Saraswati Puja 2024 : Know the date & Auspicious Timings

Basant Panchami, a festival that is filled with joy and vibrant colors, holds a special place in the hearts of Hindus all over India. This auspicious occasion, which is also known as Vasant Panchami, is observed on the fifth day of the spring season. The term 'Vasant' symbolizes the arrival of spring, while 'Panchami' signifies the fifth day. According to the Hindu calendar, Basant Panchami is celebrated during the month of Magha, precisely on the fifth day of Shukla Paksha. This remarkable day, brimming with radiance, occurs annually around the end of January or the beginning of February. In 2024, Saraswati Puja will be celebrated on 14th February.

The celebration of Basant Panchami occurs early in the spring. Saraswati Puja is celebrated on this day throughout eastern India, particularly in Bengal. Saraswati, who is depicted with a Veena in her arms, is the goddess of "knowledge," or Gyan, "music," or Sangeet, "arts," or Kala, and "education," or Vidya. In essence, the goddess Saraswati is the patroness of dance, music, and all other branches of science and education.

Due to the widespread belief that Vasant Panchami is auspicious, a lot of fresh initiatives are introduced on this day. On Panchami Tithi, Saraswati Puja is performed, and thereafter everyone gets to work. There is a tradition in many different cultures for introducing children to formal learning.

In order to obtain the blessing of Goddess Saraswati, Akshar-Abhyasam or Vidya-Arambham/Praasana pujas are performed in the morning. Learners worship their textbooks and place them in front of Saraswati statues at home. For people who work in the arts and music and pray to Goddess Saraswati, this is a significant day. People in certain cultures adorn their homes with yellow flowers and wear yellow clothing. They also worship the Sun God as soon as they wake up in the morning.

A joyous atmosphere is created by the colourful and vibrant springtime and the Goddess Saraswati's puja. The celebration places particular emphasis on the colour yellow, and decorations made of "yellow flowers of mustard," or Sarson, are common. Girls of all ages wear yellow sarees in Bengal.

Puja Muhurt

The Panchami tithi starts on February 13 at 02:42 PM and lasts until February 14 at 12:10 PM.

Saraswati Puja will be performed on 14th February during the auspicious hours of 07.01 am to 12.35 pm. Abujha Muhurat occurs on this day, which is regarded as the ideal time to begin any form of new endeavour, venture, or employment.
